Y’all know there’s nothing I love more than to sit down and get ready for an hour {or two}. Sadly, that’s just not possible every day! There are days for intricate eye looks and there are days you just gotta get.out.that.door. I came up with two looks designed to help make one part of your day effortless! If you’re starting back to school or just need a quick makeup routine before work, these two are perfect!
Skin Prep
For either of these looks skin prep is everything!! Some days this is the only part I do because it’s always essential! I’ve been digging the Ole Henrikson Banana Bright eye cream and the First-Aid Beauty moisturizer for a little hydration. If I know I’m going to be outside any, I’ll throw in my Origins anti-aging cream because it’s SPF 25. Now we’re ready for glam!
Look #1 – Natural Everyday Glam
This is my go-to look when I know I need to get ready fast! I personally like to focus on the eyes, but if eyeliner takes you 20 minutes, skip it! If you want to add in foundation for more coverage, just throw some bronzer in your crease, pop on mascara, and focus on your skin. This is just what works for me!
Spot Conceal – First I prep with the CT Hollywood Flawless Filter because I love some extra glow, especially this time of year! I’m loving the Smashbox Studio Skin and Maybelline FitMe concealers right now for this method. Something like Tarte Shape Tape is just a little too heavy if you’re not going full coverage.
Powder – I just feel better when I use a little powder! Dust some setting powder over the areas just covered.
Bronze – I’ve been doing a quick bronze with the Fenty bronzer and x brush recently to give me some color. I love this brush because it’s not going to give you that super precise, sculpted look. While I’m here, I’ll also grab a crease brush to dust this over the eye, and maybe even the nose if time permits!
Blush & Highlight – Sometimes I do blush and other times I just highlight. I recently picked up the Kosas cream in melon so I’ve really just been reaching for that duo. I also LOVE the Lancome Absolue powder if you just want a subtle glow.
Finish Off the Eyes – You can leave the eyes how they are if you’re feeling matte, but I like popping one shimmer all over the lid. The Colourpop Super Shock Shadows stay all day and are easy to apply with your finger. The shades Koosh, La La, and Ritz are my go-to’s! Next, I grab a little liner (I don’t feel complete without it!!) and throw on some mascara.
Gloss it Up – I feel like gloss is back and really having a moment right now. Now, If I want something that stays all day I’m putting on an ABH liquid lip. Otherwise, comfort comes first! MAC Peachstock is my current favorite nude, but you can check out some of my other favorite formulas here! GOTTA have a gloss so I’m probably throwing a Buxom one on top since they feel so nice!
BOOM. You go girl! Make it happen.
Look#2- Bold Lip
During the warmer months I get to work outside and I’m always wearing sunglasses! I do this makeup routine when I want to add a little personality to my look and it is SO easy. I can’t wait for fall to start so I can use some deeper tone lipsticks!
Face First – You could totally keep the same routine as above, but I wanted to give another option more focused on skin! If you’re looking for a bit more coverage, add in a primer that works for your skin type and a light layer of foundation. I use my Covergirl Matte Made with a beauty blender for this step and follow the same concealer and powder routine.
Easy Eyes & Lips – For the eyes I’ll sometimes use a neutral eyeshadow or just add mascara. Like I said, I want the lips to be the center of attention! Whenever I rock a bold lip, I HAVE TO use a lip liner!! My favorite formulas are from Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, and Rimmel. I just got the Carli Bybel collection from Il Makiage so I wanted to try that out today! Don’t you love a good red?? I’m wearing her shade Venus in these pictures.
All done!!
I hope y’all find these routines simple and fun! I do just want to ask that you please please don’t ever feel like – or let ANYONE else make you feel like – you have to wear makeup. It’s okay – I go to work all the time without a stitch of makeup on and I’m just as good at my job as when I do. Makeup is a personal choice and you don’t have to justify that choice whether you’re rocking a full face or fresh skin. I love sitting down to play with makeup because to me it is fun and relaxing. On days when I don’t feel that way, I don’t bother. Basically, all I’m saying is you do you girl!! Only YOU are in charge of the brushes!
