Bomb Face Masks from Beauty’s Leading Ladies

It’s almost Christmas y’all! I’m finally home getting a few last minute presents together for my family before we head to the coast. Did the holidays sneak up on anyone else this year?! There has been so much going on in my life, with traveling and applying for jobs, that the month of December has flown by! Today I want to share a couple of my current favorite masks with you and the boss babes behind them. There are so many masks to choose from, so I wanted to highlight a couple from female-owned brands focusing on quality ingredients. Both of these brands are vegan, cruelty-free, and qualify as clean at Sephora (no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or other yucky stuff).

Kora Organics

Founder: Miranda Kerr – sheEO, supermodel, mom, health coach, all-around wellness bad-ass

While some still hold on on to the archaic idea that models can’t be smart, or creative, or more than just a pretty face, Miranda Kerr is busy busting down all those walls. She has been building Kora Organics from the ground up for almost 10 years. As Miranda tells it, she has been using the superfruit Noni as a cure-all since her Grandmother introduced her to it. Her skincare brand introduced this secret ingredient to the world as the basis of all her products. Even before it was on trend for skincare to be clean, Kora was focused on creating quality organic products. Sure, anyone can say their products are organic, but Kora is Certified Organic. This designation goes far beyond Sephora’s clean stamp of approval. The strict rules require examination of each ingredient in a formula, and even the packaging must meet specific regulations (bpa free, highly recyclable, air-tight, etc.). If you’re a nerd like me, you can read all about the certification, ingredients, and Noni here.

Their turmeric brightening and exfoliating mask is the star of the show today. This mask helps clear congested pores and gets your skin glowing. I think it’s great for all skin types, but one the best exfoliating masks for sensitive skin. It claims to help lessen sun and environmental damage. If you were out in the sun a lot this year, this is the perfect time to help your skin recover. While the stand-out ingredient is turmeric to brighten the skin and decrease redness; rosehip seeds and papaya enzymes also help cells turnover and renew. I’m loving this turmeric mask so much, I’ve added near everything else from the brand to my wish-list. I’ve sampled the Noni face oil (might just replace my favorite from Tatcha), and I can’t wait to try the hydration mask and body oil. And yes, the powerful antioxidant Noni is in every. single. product they create. Additionally, their formulas are filtered through rose quartz to encourage self-love and positivity. Literally, how can you not be obsessed with this brand?!?

I’ve been seeing Kora get a little more recognition on social media and YouTube in the past year, but their products still deserve some serious love! Expect this clean og to keep growing and dominating the industry standards!

Summer Fridays

Founders: Marianna Hewitt & Lauren Gores Ireland – blogger babes, influencer gurus

If you read my favorite travel masks post, you already know I’m a huge fan of Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask. This brand was designed with the mission of giving your skin some time off. Both influencers know it can be hard to find skincare with the best ingredients. Why put in the work if red dye (or who knows what) is going to counteract the few good ingredients?? This made the team (especially mom-to-be Lauren!) want to invest in the best clean ingredients and keep their formula made in the US of A. I personally love that Summer Fridays never uses fragrance since it can irritate my eczema.

Their new baby is the Overtime Mask. Just like the Kora turmeric mask, this is an exfoliating mask designed to help congested pores and keep dull skin at bay. After trying both they are pretty different! The grains of apricot in this are finely crushed so that they’re not abrasive to your skin. In one tube you’ve got a formula loaded with vitamins, pumpkin, apricot, and oats. This is all designed to fight inflammation, irritation, and restore your complexion. This one does seem a little more powerful at cleansing your pores. It takes a while to dry, so this is the essential mask when you’re taking time for yourself. Summer Fridays recommends to follow up Overtime with their Jet Lag Mask to keep your skin hydrating and glowing. This combo feels like it was made for this winter weather! Be warned – If you dislike the smell of pumpkin the Overtime face mask will probably be a skip for you. But if you’re like me, you’ll be telling everyone hey! My face smells like pumpkin!!

I can’t wait to see what’s behind door #3 for these boss ladies! Do you think it will be another mask or will they ever broaden their line??
